Call SAFE Place on 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

If I call?

If you call during office hours (9-5 Monday to Friday) you will be put straight through to speak to one of our trained staff. During the call it will be necessary for them to ask you some simple questions. These will include asking for...

  • Your name (just a first name will do)
  • Your date of birth
  • Your home postcode
  • Your telephone number
  • The date and time of the assault (this may be recent or have been some time in the past)
  • Some brief details about the assault
  • Do you think you might need emergency contraception?
  • Do you want the police to be informed?
  • Would you like a forensic medical examination?

Not all of these questions have to be answered over the telephone, and all answers are treated in confidence, but more information will allow the most appropriate support to be given to you.

If you are thinking of calling SAFE Place, or know someone who might, please try and have as much of this information available as possible before calling.

During the call, the support provided by SAFE Place is described to you and any options for support discussed. If necessary, an appointment can then be made for you to visit SAFE Place to see one of our Crisis Workers.

Outside of office hours

SAFE Place has a 24-hour, 365 days a year on call service. After office hours you are put through to an operator who will ask only for your name and a contact telephone number.

These details will remain confidential, and be passed immediately to one of our Crisis Workers who will call you and provide support in the same way as already described during office hours.
